The area has roots dating back to the 1830s and now has a population of approximately 40,000. There are an abundance of diverse neighborhoods to suit everyone’s housing needs, such as newer areas like Wyntercreek and Mill Glen, and older areas including Mount Vernon, Springfield and Holly Oak. Dunwoody is considered to be one of Atlanta’s more posh communities, while homes can range from the mid $100s to $1 million+. Residents have access to groups such as the Dunwoody Homeowners Association and the Dunwoody Women’s Club. The area also contains the Dunwoody Nature Center and the North DeKalb Cultural Center. Closeby is Perimeter Mall and many other shopping and dining options, conveniently serviced by the Dunwoody MARTA station. Schools are operated by DeKalb county and include Austin Elementary, Chestnut Charter Elementary, Kingsley Elementary, Vanderlyn Elementary, Dunwoody Elementary, Peachtree Charter Middle School and Dunwoody High School.

 

Dunwoody is in northern DeKalb County, just outside of I285 and very centrally located near GA 400.  The community was named for Major Charles Dunwoody. Dunwoody is one of the wealthiest and most prestigious areas within Greater Atlanta, with many elegant homes, highly-ranked schools, and abundant shopping and entertainment options including Perimeter Mall.
